Current Events

The a/c is busted and the house is sweltering, so I've been sleeping in the basement to keep cool at night. We have this problem with the a/c every year, and it's getting a bit annoying now. I need cool temperatures to sleep, and I need sleep before the Relay tomorrow.
I've been reading Carrie Fisher's book Surrender The Pink, and, like the others, I love it. This one isn't so autobiographical, but she does give the main character a lot of her personality.
I probably won't get a chance to post tomorrow or Sunday, since I'll be at the Relay most of the time, but I 'll try to post again Monday.

Postcards from the Storm

Good grief, did we get a thunderstorm last night. Or rather, early this morning. I even dreamed about a thunderstorm without waking up to see that it was storming. Areas not too far from here are underwater, too. Luckily, my town is on a hill, so the worst puddle I have in my 6-acre yard is about 3 inches deep.
In other news (tap of the papers on the desk in front of me), I recently finished Postcards From The Edge. I'm now trying to decide which book I've read, this or The Best Awful, was my favorite. I think it's a very close call, but I'd have to say... Postcards From The Edge. I don't know why, it just appealed to me a little bit more. Actually, I do know why. The Best Awful dealt more with drugs and her time in the mental hospital, while Postcards From The Edge gave the readers more of a look into who Carrie really was, sober and in her semi-normal life.
All in all, they're both excellent books, and they've made their way onto the mental list I keep of my favorite books.

New Websites

I've discovered some more entertaining websites in the past week or so. I added them to my favorite websites list, but for quick reference they are: www.notalwaysright.com and www.passiveaggressivenotes.com.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there, including my own. I hope you enjoy the day dedicated to you.

Tournament Results

Well, the TaeKwonDo tournament was earlier today. I finished 1st in forms and 2nd in sparring. My dad and I were also recognized with an award given once a year to one student, but in this case it was split between two students. The tournament was a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to next year.
The local Relay for Life is this weekend, and as part of the TaeKwonDo school's team I will be attending. Let's hope for good weather - last year it was held for only 12 hours and at an indoor college track.

TaeKwonDo Competiton

I'm going to crash very early tonight, as I'm competing in a local TaeKwonDo competition tomorrow. It should be a lot of fun, as always. Wish me luck! :)

Carrie Fisher's Blog

I just realized I didn't add Carrie Fisher's blog to my favorite blogs list! How could I have forgotten? Her blog is my absolute favorite of any I have read. To give you a little taste of her way of looking at things and her humor, I'd like to quote a sentence from her blog: "In closing, I’d like to say that my IQ is dangerously close to my weight. And for those of you skinny folks  out there, I hope the same isn’t true……." Genius. I'd never thought of it that way before... :)
If you'd like to read more of her blog, the link is http://carriefisher.com/?cat=1. Be warned, she does a lot of swearing, but if you're familiar with Carrie's writing at all you'll know that's just the way she is. To be honest, I sometimes wish I were as brave as her.

A Few Random Pictures

I had the urge to post some pictures I found. No real reason, just for entertainment. Enjoy.

Updates!

Notice anything different about this place? Yup... just about everything. I changed the layout to something less cluttered and a bit more elegant, changed the hit counter and added a unique hit counter, added a favorite blogs section, added a song of the moment mp3 player, and... well, that's about it, I think. Oh, and I got rid of those annoying Toplist-like buttons. What do you think?

My Current Favorite Blog

I will be posting links to my favorite blogs from time to time, and probably keep a list of them in the sidebar as well. At the moment, my favorite blog is Hyperbole and a Half, at http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/. I could sit and read this blog all day. Check it out, you won't be sorry. Though after you stay up until 3 a.m. reading past posts, you might start o regret it a little. Please, don't do that. I did. Bad idea.

Searching...

The search for my blog has gotten even easier. You no longer have to type "stonecoldcrazyblog" in order for it to come up in Google search, "stone cold crazy blog" is sufficient. How cool is that? I'm satisfied. With the search result, not the blog. I'm considering changing the layout to something simpler. Any thoughts on that?

I Can't Think of an (Almost) Witty Title

Well, I'm back, but I'm brain dead from lack of sleep. My insomnia has kicked in during the past few nights. I spent last night looking up random interjections in my Latin dictionary and translating "Res ipsa loquitor, tabula in naufragio." I only sat Pirates of the Caribbean 3, oh, say 15 times.
That's a good topic: movies. What are my readers' (reader's? maybe) favorites? I'd say mine would have to be Iron Man, Man In The Iron Mask, Star Wars (original trilogy), Pirates trilogy, Harry Potter series, Airplane!, Airplane: The Sequel, A Beautiful Mind, Benny and Joon, Sleepy Hollow, and The Mummy movies, among many others. Including, though I'm ashamed to admit it, the Austin Powers movies. I like just about any horror movie, as well, though it's difficult for me to find one that will actually scare me. Oh, and science fiction. I love science fiction. My only problem is that SciFi has become pretty predictable lately, especially with alien movies.
Speaking of science fiction, that brings me back to my new favorite SciFi movie series, my favorite celebrity, my favorite actress, and a new addition to my long list of favorite authors. I've almost finished her book, sadly, so I guess this means another trip to the library is going to go on my schedule. Not that I have a schedule. I'm not one of those over-organized put-it-on-my-list-if-you-want-it-done always-busy people. That's my mother. And I'm nothing like her. Well, maybe a little, but I didn't get that part of her brain.
But anyway, I've read most of The Best Awful now. I absolutely adore this book, because it's hilarious, horribly sad, and at many times, terrifying. I haven't had any interaction with drugs or doers of drugs, so reading a very open account of their affects on the mind scares me. I still don't understand how people can have the courage to let the drugs take over them. I want to stay in control of my words and actions at all times.
In other news, I joined Twitter. Not to "tweet" or promote my blog, but just to follow other Twitter users, Carrie Fisher in particular (Yes, yes, I know, I'm obsessed. But can you blame me?). I'm disappointed that most celebrities don't tweet about anything except advertising their own shows, products, etc. I like the celebrities such as Carrie, who actually tweet about themselves, their life, events, and other such things with minimal advertising. Yes, I think it's okay and even good to promote your show or hold contests for tickets or whatever else goes on in celebrity Twitter pages, but that should not be the only thing they tweet! Fans are interested in them, don't they know that? We want to see how their minds work.
Well, farewell for now. I hope I don't have any more interruptions in my blogging schedule anymore, and please forgive the absence I did have.
